Disorientati̵o̶͎͐̑n̴̫̯͂

CW: This game will try to make you feel anxious

Disorientati̵o̶͎͐̑n̴̫̯͂ is a neon-fast maze runner where you’re racing against a ticking clock a̷̯̔̈́ñ̷̙̻d̸̲́̋̎ ̵̺̻̂̈́t̸̜̒ĥ̴̝ȩ̷̟͊ ̸͆̌͝ͅo̴̪̥̓̌̓ť̶̛̲͗h̶̲̮͋̾̓e̶̙̦̰͐̉r̶̛̙s̷̫͇̠͗. When the timer hits zero, the entire maze reshuffles around your current position. Adapt fast or get swallowed by the labyrinth.

If you want a score to beat, my high score is 1651! Good Luck, and a word of advice, sometimes į̴́t̶͚͂ś̴̱ ̴̟̓o̶̳͊p̶̞̿t̴͙́i̸͖̽m̴̭̒ă̷͓l̶̞͗ ̶̞͆t̷̖̀o̵͖̐ ̷̛͈h̸͇͛ǐ̶͖d̵̰̾è̴̱

How It Plays

Outrun the Collapse: Reach the exit before the shuffle. The first window is generous, but each cycle tightens the timer.

Collect Fragments: Dead-ends hide glowing fragments. Grab them for points, extra time, or a fleeting speed boost.

Amplify Your Score: Chain fragments together to multiply your score.

Endless Escalation: Survive each shuffle as the labyrinth grows larger and its rules begin to decay.

High Scores Saved: Your best runs are saved to a local leaderboard

Controls (keyboard & touch)
  • Keyboard: Arrow keys to move.
  • Touch: On-screen virtual joystick appears on mobile.

Features at a Glance

  • Dynamic maze generation with safety checks to ensure the exit is always reachable.
  • Built in pure vanilla JavaScript. Because I'm a freak.
  • Responsive layout and mobile-friendly inputs.

History

This started as a high school English class project. I was tasked with building a presentation and class activity that incorporated 'Agility and Adaptability', and I realized I could make a web game. So I taught myself about procedural maze generation and leaned on a couple of tiny libraries for the parts that I didn’t want to implement. The core maze generator, movement, and shuffle mechanic were all hand-rolled in vanilla JS by a 15-year-old Bee!

For the itch release, I polished the game feel, improved the camera, and added some light VFX to help it sit better among my other projects a top of this I added some other surprises. It’s intentionally small and self-contained: a browser game you can learn in seconds but has enough character to remain in your memory.
